Morella Corporation (1MC) has kicked off a geophysics exploration program at its North Big Smoky deposit in Nevada.

Originally scheduled for November, Morella has engaged a geophysics expert to carry out a single controlled-source audio-frequency magnetotellurics (CSAMT) line at the project.

The work was brought forward as 1MC looks to “fast track” its understanding of the deposit.

Specifically, the line is being completed to help the company better identify areas of higher conductivity and potentially develop a cross-sectional understanding through the deposit that is aligned with soil sample lines in the area.

Following on from a soil sampling program completed last month, Morella said the CSAMT results would guide the company in the definition of its next phase of exploration.

North Big Smoky lies near Morella’s Fish Lake Valley project, and as such, the company sees an opportunity to develop a regional hub.

Morella Managing Director James Brown said by developing the two deposits in sync, the company could maximise the use of its resources and contractors when available while reducing costs.

Morella shares were trading grey at 2.1 cents at 11:01 am AEDT.
